Set Date for Spring MudGather in PA?

I know, it's WAY early, but I am booking so much music activity now that I need to plug this into the spring '03 (!!!!!!) schedule.

Third Friday in April (cold camping) or third Friday in May (warmer outdoor picking, still cold camping). Third Fridays are jam night and the jams are getting pretty dam big. Geeze, by spring we may have to sleep and jam at the church or take over the nearest small town.

Somebuddy put in a clickie to the last thread for me, huh?

And if you are thinking about coming-- take a moment please to meditate on the following:

"I am a MUSICIAN. Do I live accordingly, and do I set aside time for being my true musician-self? Will I really make time to do this for myself, or do I prefer the hope to the reality?"

My vote would be for May.

Last time, my vote was for June but that didn't turn out to be practical (it turned out to be cancelled!). I'll vote for the warmer of the two available months. Usually that's May (not always, in PA, but I'll take a chance!), so I vote for May.

I'm worried about other festivals' dates. Can you review the older threads and see what it was that conflicted? Cuz I would prefer May, too, but we lost a lot of people to other doings last time.

I am willing to host, but I no longer have the ill health necessary to spend the whole day at the keyboard cowboying all of it on my own. In other words, the time of the Committee appears to have arrived, if this is going to happen.

Either sounds wonderful to me - I think. (Weekends tend to fill up for me, more's the pity.) Where in PA?

Way up NORTH, an hour north of Williamsport, in Tioga County.

Maps and stuff here:

Look around in there for some interesting stuff.

Susan --

Don't know if this is the one you want linked, but it's the last one I found:

Oh, and here's a link from your last post:

Susan: You're right about the May festivals conflicting with your Gather. April's fine with me, s'long as the increase in indoor activity (due to the chillier weather) is fine with you! In other words, if you don't mind tripping over folkies in every room of your house, I'll be one of the trippees. *G*

Susan:

I would really like to make it. It would be better for me if it wasn't too close to the Memorial Day weekend.

Oh, duh-- the DATE. Third Friday for us, whenever possible, from now on, to coincide with our monthly Local Folks jam. So, April 18 - 20 or May 16 - 18.

BTW, BIG change in accommodations-- those bedrooms some of you have seen, upstairs, are becoming JAM rooms, and the newly done attic room will be the main low-allergen unisex dorm to supplement camping. It will be help-yourself-to-bedding from whatever we have, in terms of mattresses, mats, inflatables, pillows, and quilts... and BYO folding chair. I think the whole thing is turning into an annual camp. Or semi-annual. It's about time I figured THAT out, eh? You should see the metal dinner trays! *G*

Susan, keep me posted on the date. I am planning on getting up to see you guys, next year, and this might be a good opportunity.

OK, Mic. Watch this thread. Or come in Feb. and get snowed into a Gospel Swap Weekend.

Bring spouse, but it's not that kind of swap.

I'm leaning toward April. The reality is, the weather up here in the mountains is not that much better in May, and I have another late May-early June thing I want to go to myself. I want to include people from that group in my weekend invite too without stressing their schedules. More and more my focus in on what will net the most music and the greatest number of musicians, and now I have some local contacts to look to for the foundation of a Gathering. You don't mind if it's not "just us," do you? *G*

Also, the number of people who said MAYBE last time for May, and then went somewhere else, is still looming in my mind.

So I'm penciling in April 18, and I'll make a firm decision shortly.

Do we want workshops, and do we want to do them ourselves or pay some ringers with particular expertise?

Did someone refresh this and then their post was deleted?

We're open, if a summer date can be worked out and if people want to be in Frackland.
