From: Earl Mississippi Max, I originally learned it from a Holy Modal Rounders album which probably came out about the same time as the Eric Von Schmidt album. I heard that it was a Lousianna prison song and I have a feeling I am missing a few verses. |

You get a sense of that listening to his recording where the verses become almost indecipherable as if various intoxicated characters are calling out their verse. |

I have not been able to find that version on any recording since then. The version on "Medical School", Mac Rebennac's early years, contains a sanitized version. |
