It hasn't had the attention paid to the fox-hunting rally, because it's only about thousands of human being who are likely to get killed in our name, if a blitz on Iraq is initiated.

Well , if it makes you feel any better , C-span is rebroadcasting , in its entirety ,Tony Blair's making his case to Parliament with Q & A as I write this from the "live" broadcast I caught the tail end of this morn. A rather broad display of all of the U.K.'s point's of view via representatives both pro & con. Some here know what a "telly" is for. ;-) |

No public disorder - no arrests - not even litter. In terms of size it was twice the size of the anti-Poll Tax demonstrations - size = degree of support and commitment. We'll see.

A marcher smacked him over the head with a horn, shouting "you paki c**t!". The cops were on hand and arrested the attacker who was charged with a racially motivated attack..." My asterisks. McGrath. 1)There is a fantastic coverage of anti-Bush sentiment in the British press. 2) The hoo-ha between the dog-hunters and the pro-cyanide gassers can hardly be laid at the door of the pro-hunt marchers. They didnt start the controversy, it was the gassers that proposed the ban. 3)A lot of people who dont want the war wont be marching because they dont want to improve Saddam's hand in the current poker game:they want him to lose the game, and avoid the war. |
