Does anyone have a transliteration of the lyrics to a beautiful Hebrew shabbat song that begins "Shemesh Sha-kae-ah" and ends something like "Ve Kochavim sham, ba darom, yevarchu Shabbat Shalom"? Thanks so much.

Nope, sorry. Don't know it, couldn't find it in hebrewsongs.com or zemerl. But I'll ask around.

Aloha,
Mark

I've tried the links above, but neither one included this song. Thanks for continuing the search. I heard this song in Israel a few years back.

Thank you.

I found it. It's a Naomi Shemer song called Shabat (Sabbath). She was a brilliant song-writer. If I can find my Naomi Shemer book, I'll see if there aren't more verses.

Shemesh shaq'ah, shaq'ah me'ever yam
yemey hakhol khalfu, khalfu ve'einam
ve'kokhavim sham ba'merom
yevarkhu: shabat shalom.

The sun has set, set beyond the sea
the week days have passed, have passed and are gone
and the stars in the heavens
will bless: Shabat Shalom.
