I don't think the chat room has an interstellar connection though.

Been to the British Museum today and in the Ancient Greek Section there is a miniature .....to scale....statue of MICCA...a naked Micca at that. I was chuckling to myself and everyone I was with wanted to know why!!!...sorry Micca

Just come from the chat room, a little manic trying to follow different conversations. I don't if it's a glitch, but every time someone posts, my screen goes back to the top and I have to scroll all the way down to read the new post!! Fun though.

Lady P.,

I'm not sure why that's happening. Try clicking on OPTIONS, then check SET FOCUS ON NEW MSG. and click OK. That might do the trick.

I can't see what I've posted and then my dialogue box vanishes... Now I can't get back in... is there a limit on how many can be there at once? Plus I've had to disable my popupkiller to get the help boxes open....

LTS - very confused...

I'm totally unfamiliar with chat rooms. Dropping in on an existing converstion seems really strange. Is there a way to review a few minutes worth of messages from before getting on?

It's also really hard to tell what message someone is responding to.

Oh well, I've never been much good at small talk, so this may not be for me anyway.

I got back in, got bumped and now it says I'm still in there even though I was logged out!

Still very VERY confused! But happy with it... if only various limbs would stop trying to drop off....

I think if figured out and fixed the crashes. I found something that I am used to doing as a part of administering the Mudcat that I now know I can't do with people in the chat. Textbook cascading failure.

I discovered that if you x out (top right) you can't get back in because you're already there. You have to log out (bottom right)

First of all, Guest, you must be a member.

By Golly, I actually got in. Not the world's most scintillating conversation, admittedly.. mostly astonishment that people were getting in, and then having them leave the room. But, I can see that once we all get over the novelty of it, it should be great fun..

Burke.....if you enjoy the music and the community here, I'd encourage you to keep trying the chat room for a bit. I'm NOT good at "small talk" intros etc. either, but do think you'll find, after a while, the initial introductions etc. subside and you'll be able to take off your shoes and relax with good friends.
Jumping into the room blind and feeling like you're interrupting a conversation is uncomfortable for a lot of us, BUT in the radio chat room we had here, Catters tried to give people entering the room a brief hi/welcome/summary of the conversation.
I also think Mudcat humor and creativity SHINES when answers to questions etc. show out of sequence in the chat box...it CAN create some fun dialogues. Usually, if you just scroll back up a bit you can find what the question was.

AND Max and Jeff........the new toys are AWESOME....thanks.

I just left the chatroom and when I clicked on the "Lyrics and Knowledge" (Forum Home) link to get back to here I got a message that said I'm not authorized to access this page. In fact, I didn't have authority to access anything but the chatroom. I had to quit completely out and come back in via the "front door".

Can anyone, please, explain the purpose of the private rooms on Mudchat?
Setting one up does not entail the use of a password and there does not seem to be any way of restricting who enters.
I'm puzzled

Private rooms do not show up in the "change rooms" list. If you're in a private room, you will not show up in "WHO'S IN," except to others in your room.

Bloody typical that when I finally get a chance to play properly tonight - Manitas was hogging it earlier - there's no-one there.... poo.

Still, there's always tomorrow night.....!

And just who was this fair lady he was talking about?

So if a room is private, how is it set up, and are people invited? Is there a platform 9 3/4 to go through to get there? And does it go away once everyone leaves?

Just select private when you set up the room. It works cos I tried it but noone knew so I had to talk to myself but at least I got intelligent answers!
