25 Oct 02 - 10:10 AM (#811036) Subject: Fiddle tabs for O'Carolyn Tunes From: wilco I'm a self-taught fiddler who tabs the music that I like. I tabbed Sheebag Sheemore, and a number of others. Where can I find more simple tabs for fiddle? I tab with four lines (one each for the four strings: G,D, A. and E. then, I indicate with 0,1,2,3,4 which finger to place on each string. |

Because there is an O'Carolan (note spelling) page at http://www.michaelpilgrim.com/scores101.html (click me to go there) which has scores and mandolin tabs as well as guitar tabs and midis |

And I especially like the fact that the musical scores and tabs appear on the same page. Way to go, dude! Boy, this is going to add inches to my practice book(s) *BG* All the best, Áine |

25 Oct 02 - 05:59 PM (#811430) Subject: RE: Fiddle tabs for O'Carolyn Tunes From: Sorcha Trouble with tab is that it gives NO indication of timing. I think they are harder to read than just sheet music. |
25 Oct 02 - 07:06 PM (#811481) Subject: RE: Fiddle tabs for O'Carolyn Tunes From: McGrath of Harlow These days a reference to "Victor Meldrew" often serves as an alternative. I can't get my head round tabs even on guitars, where there are frets. Once I start trying to work out from tabs where to put the fingers, my head starts spinning. It's a great deficiency. Chord diagrams are about my limit. (And obviously that'd be no good with a fiddle, if I could only play one.) |
