Keillor started the show with what could have been a scene right out of the Mudcat Tavern. One by one, they gathered in the bar, talking about the shock of losing Senator Wellstone, telling jokes and anecdotes about him in a most loving, shy, and gently humourous way. If anyone could have pulled off such a thing, it is Garrison. He went on to talk a little bit about the shock and grief the whole state of Minnesota is feeling right now. It's the best I've ever heard on PHC. Plus, Jerry Douglas was the guest artist along with Stephanie Davis. Just an all round exceptional show. You can listen to it and watch it online by clicking here. Thanks, kat |

Douglas From: katlaughing Forgot to mention the only Bob Dylan song on the "juekbox" in the above scene was "Forever Young" sung by a Lutheran Choir! It was absolutely perfect, fit the tribute to Wellstone and made me cry my eyes out. Thanks, kat |

Last night, I was disappointed to hear a replay of a show from 1985 or '86. I felt that Garrison Kiellor would certaintly do a fitting tribute to the late senator. I do hope it will be aired next week, here. Ellen |

Douglas From: McGrath of Harlow The RealAudio link timed out for me on this - I'm hoping it's just that lots of people are listening, because I'd hate it if it turned out I can't get Prairie Home Companion any more. (Especially any time there's something on the news that might make you feel like giving up on America, because it's Americans like Garrison Keillor who give the lie to that. And most you meet on the Mudcat.) |

Douglas From: EBarnacle1 It was played on Sunday's show, instead of repeating the same show that he had repeated the previous week. I especially appreciated the point that Keillor made that Minnesota had not even had to waste time in renaming one of its major cities after Senator Wellstone. |
