Lyr Req: Lost and Gone (Bert Jansch)

11 Jun 98 - 04:17 PM (#30548)
Subject: Lost and gone?
From:

Anyone have the words to a song that (I think) is called Lost and gone written by Bert Jansch? I have most of his stuff lying around but this recording got lost last time I moved house...:-(

Not traditional folk but in the best folk tradition and all about the destruction of some of his native Scotland by the advent of the oil industry.

The first verse goes something on the lines of

It's a bloody shame
Lost and gone the quietness
Of the rolling sea
Having lost my home
No more to fish and swim
In the Sule Skerrie
Gone are the hills and the misty valleys
The pipeline's coming through
Gone are the streams where the salmon leap
The pipeline's coming through

The other (two?) verses I can only remember fragments from. Thanx anyone that can help!
