Hi,

Here we go singing in the kitchen,
All together now singing in the kitchen,
Everybody singing in the kitchen,
banging on the pots and pans.

You play the lids and I'll play the spoons,
You play the notes and I'll play the tunes,
And we'll wake up the man in the moon,
Because we played so loud.

chorus...... Here we go.......

My kids learnt this off playschool.

By the way there is an excellent kids songs site which has now moved (I'll update it in the links) it is now at,

I realize this song is a little long but it is so cute! This is the full song, transcribed by me.

Singin' In The Kitchen
(Shel Silverstein)
Sung by Bobby Bare and Family

Spoken by Father: O.K. Heeeeere we go!
Sung by Everyone: Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: All Together
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: Everybody!
Singin' in the kitchen!
Bangin'on the pots and pans.

Father: Now Mommy and Daddy
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: Baby's laughin'
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: All the kids
Singin' in the kitchen!
Bangin' on the pots and pans.

Father:Supper's done and the table's clear.
Baby wants a bottle and I wanna beer.
Lord, I sure am glad I'm here
Where there's lotsa love to share.

And now clap hands and everybody sing.
Dishes clang and the banjo rings.
There's gravy on these guitar strings!
But I don't really care.
'Cause
Father: Here we are
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: All together
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: Everybody!
Singin' in the kitchen!
Bangin' on the pots and pans!

Father: I'll play the comb
And you play the spoons.
I'll sing the words
And you sing the tunes.
We'll wake up
The old man in the moon
'Cause we sing so loud!
(Small boy's loud voice) YEAH!

Father: I'll hug y'all
And you'll hug mother.
Snuggle up close
To one another.
Just like bread
On a piece of butter,
Lord, it makes me feel so proud!

'Cause
Father: Here we are
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: All together
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: Everybody!
Singin' in the kitchen!
Bangin' on the pots and pans!

Father: Now the Fireplace embers
Are glowing red
Everybody's tired
And it's time for bed
Baby's noddin'
His little sleepy head
So let's sing quiet and low!
SHHHHHHHHH!
(Whispered)
Father: Who do we love?
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: Can't get enough!
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: Whole lotta love!
Singin' in the kitchen!
Bangin' on the pots and pans.
(still whispered)
Father: Mommy and Daddy
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: Little bitty baby
Singin'in the kitchen!
Father: All the kids
Singin' in the kitchen!
Bangin' on the pots and pans!
SHHHHHHHH!

(Small boy's loud voice)
HEEEEEERE WE GO!
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: All together
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: Everybody
Singin' in the kitchen!
Bangin' on the pots and pans!

Father: Mommy and Daddy
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: Baby's laughin'
Singin' in the kitchen!
Father: All the kids
Singin' in the kitchen!
Bangin' on the pots and pans!!!

*All the"Singin'in the kitchens" and
"Bangin' on the pots and pans" are sung
by everyone.

Enjoy! gatyam gal
