24 Nov 02 - 12:32 PM (#833913) Subject: Geo Papa-g at bedworth incognito From: breezy Rumour has it that the man writing very good songs will be going on Saturday If you get a chance, listen to a few of his songs and judge for yourselves what Herga, St.Albans and Maidenhead have been enjoying for some time. How is it that a Greek can give this country some well crafted songs that can be labelled 'Folk' and Brtish at that? Its called talent, amongst other things? 'A song once written is immortal' He has written more than just a few. |

24 Nov 02 - 07:29 PM (#834140) Subject: RE: Geo Papa-g at bedworth incognito From: JudeL Susan: Bedworth is a weekend festival, Herga, St Albans, Uxbridge, Maidenhead are all folk clubs , and Papa G is a guy who'se original language was greek but is a singer /songwriter of songs in English. Oh and the dig about the folksong and debating society is cos sometimes the regulars at uxbridge indulge in some friendly banter ( which the unkind might refer to as heckling) with guests that they know. |

I was most diappointed not to have met them in person, but I fell asleep to the sound of them singing away in the bar while the room was still spinning! Unreal! By the way, George Papavgeris is a man worth listening to as you'll find out sooner or later *G* |

Yes Mr Breeze you're a lovely cuddly sort of person and you're always nice to everybody. You don't speak in riddles or write in txt or anything! There, feeling better now? And also the following Friday, I believe (incl FGWT12S), as a last pre-Xmas spasm for Snollbuns. But fret not; you should take advantage of the lull to visit sunny Amersham for a workshop with Christine & Vanessa. And I am sure that there would be room at the Mellows Inn for an overnight stay, to maximise enjoyment and drinking and minimise driving and hassle. |

01 Dec 02 - 01:27 PM (#838330) Subject: RE: Geo Papa-g at bedworth incognito From: George Papavgeris OK, let's close this down now. Had lots of fun, met up with JudeL briefly, followed Johnny Collins and Graeme Knights a bit, caught Keith Donnelly and Les Barker, Steve Tilston (now, he's great!) and was discovered (!) by Sheila Mosley (from Leicester, sings with Pete Burnham, good harmonies, and Sheila plays a very decent guitar too) and Ciaran Dorris (what a voice!), both of whom are interested in doing my stuff. Ah, and Johnny Collins did "Heart of a Sailor Boy" in the Songs of the Sea session, and what amazed me was that the whole of the audience (some 130 people) joined in from the very first chorus...I was choked. Bed'rth being the last of the festivals in the UK season, I guess winter now is upon us. Have a good Christmas! |
