Harpgirl.....

To the best of my knowledge, DB has ceased performing. He lives in the Chicago area and makes violins. Can't claim its gospel, though.

Too bad, he's one of the best guitar players I've heard. I have several of his albums, plus a few numbers he did with Norman Blake. BTW, try Norman, if you haven't.

He was the subject of the Jerry Jeff Walker song "David and Me" and also played on that cut with Jerry Jeff.

Don't know the answer to your question about the current status of Bromberg but can tell you this much: On December 14th, 1997, he joined Bob Dylan onstage as a surprise guest, for a total of four songs. He joined Bob's band for the first two openers; a couple of Chicago Blues numbers --'It's Over Baby' and 'She Took My Car When She Quit Me', then later he accompanied Bob on acoustic guitar for an instrumental piece called 'Ragtime Annie', and lastly, on electric slide guitar on Bob's classic ditty, 'It Takes Alot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry'.

Heard it was a great show.

Glad to have at least some news about David Bromberg. I've been a fan since the first time I heard "Midnight on the Water" and had the pleasure of seeing David and his large ensemble many years back on his "How Late'll Ya Play Til?" tour in Lawrence, Kansas. A truly amazing and delightful evening.

He's a consummate musician, interpreter and master of many styles. Again, thanks to Ralph and AnnA for your info!
