From: Fifer Can anyone out there help me find a chart showing the fret positions and optimum scale lengths for Tenor Mandola, Octave Mandolin, and Mandolin. I plan on making some instruments in the near future, but can't find the required distances to position the frets accurately. I know it's out there somewhere, but I can't locate it. My e mail address is rrmurray@aol.com Any assistance would be GREATLY apprteciated! |

You can use the ratio of, I think, 1/17.835 to calculate the position of the frets. I set it up on a spread sheet to calculate it automatically for any string length. Some greater expert than I am is bound to correct me if the ratio is wrong. Mal |
