Happy Santa Lucia Day
I was at a Swedish gathering
girls with candles in their hair
(battery operated, lest you fear
we are practicing child endangerment here)
and one woman was in search of the song Stena
or Stina (possibly short for Christina?)
any one out there know this one??

When I used Google with the search argument "Swedish song Stina" (without quotes), I got 878 hits. When I used "Swedish song Stena", I got 155 hits.

"Stina" seems to be a girl's name.

"Stena Line" is the name of a ferry company. (I don't know where it gets its name.)

Any suggestions on how to narrow the search?

seems like the woman who wanted this song sang a bit of it
and it went stina stina...maybe doubling the name would get
the lyric?

It probably isn't Tiggar-Stinas middagssång 'beggar Stina's dinner song' of Dan Andersson (1888-1920), but I give the link anyway:-)

To narrow the search - if you want the stuff in Swedish - type 'song' with the "Swedish o" (alt134); sång (pronounced 'song'), that should drop out lots of irrelevant hits.

That wouldn't be "Tzena Tzena Tzena," would it? (The title is also sometimes given as "Tzena Tzena" or just "Tzena.") There's an old thread about it:
Lyr Req: Tzena, Tzena (in English).

Yeah, I know, it's Hebrew, not Swedish, but if a Hebrew song can be popular in America, why not Sweden, too?
