This is a simplified version, you can add other chords, but this sounds good as it is! I chorded this in key of G. I'm not sure what key Hoyt did it in, my record player ain't currently hooked up... I wrote mine out to post them this morning, but you beat me to it. I think I'll post them anyway 'cause yu can use an F Chord in the chorus, which I think makes the song. G Just a fisherman's daughter C G From Puerto Penasco D G Evangelina in old Mexico That is essentially the same for all verses although I use and ascending progression on the A7 to embellish. The Bridge is as follows: G F#m F C And the fire I feel for the woman I love G Is drivin' me insane. D Knowin' she's waitin' G And I can't get there. F#m F God only knows that I wracked my brain C G To try and find a way D To reach that woman G In old Mexico. Note: I originally wrote this song after I had spent a week in Puerto Penasco with a very special woman. The town was a fairly prosperous (by Mexico standards) fishing village on the Eastern side of the Sea of Cortez. I used the phrase (and still do) Fisherman's daughter which Hoyt changed to Poor Man's daughter. I also wrote a second Bridge which Hoyt chose not to use, repeating the first Bridge instead. I hope this helps anyone who want's to play this song. |
