Despite what others may think, there is a wealth of musical talent in and aroun d Basingstoke. Make a note in your diary for Saturday 22nd February . Milestones Museum is holding a music day featuring local people from the Folk Tradition, including The Old Trout Band (well known for their appearances at Broadstairs Folkweek and locally) If you come, it will cost you the entrance fee, but the Museum is well worth a visit anyway as it hosts all sorts of working exhibits from Victoriana thro' to the fifties and sixties, plus the AA collestion of motor vehicles, cycles and motoring memorabillia. There is also a working Edwardian pub where you can get a drink (sadly not at edwardian prices, and a restaurant.

from a free listings mag I see sometimes, the Anvil seems to get some good blues/rock performers, too.

RtS
(the only time I've been there was to reclaim some items burgled from us from the poice station there, it was P-ing with rain and we took ages to find somewhere to park & to find where to go, so it's not our fave place!)

Sorry to trouble you but I have seen this thread and wondered if you knew of any sessions around Winchester, where I live? I go to Irish sessions in London and Southampton but I am getting a bit sick of travelling up/down. I also like bluegrass and Old Time.

I play the pipes and fiddle mainly but I can also play the mandolin and 5-string banjo.

I am Basingstoke in the week (until end Feb), but go home at weekends, so news of midweek sessions would be welcome.
