It's in the DT. Search for [mary mack]

Wasn't it also Great Big Sea who did the parody to Mari-Mac about MacDonalds? If it wasn't them , it was another group in the same region of Canada. I'm still looking for those lyrics.

This is quite bizarre. I just got back from 10 days in Canada, where I picked up a CD by Great Big Sea because the Kenora radio station had played Lukey by them and i thought it was pretty neat (OK so I actually went into the store looking for a CD by Quartette which they didn't have). So this CD has MariMac and I'm at work today listening to it (and working) and tying to figure out what the heck the third line of the chorus is fand I failed. Then I come home and there it is the right near the top of all the threads I have to catch up on. This place is not only amazing but eerily clarivoyant. Almost like those ladies in the psychic phone chat TV copmmercials.

If it's the same version as I know (probably not) then the chorus goes as follows:
There's a little girl and her name is Mary Mac
Make no mistake she's the girl I'm goin' to track
Lots of other fellows they get upon her track
But I'm thinkin' that they'd have to get up early
Mary Mac's father's making Mary Mac marry me
My father's making me marry Mary Mac
Gon-a marry Mary for my Mary to take care of me
We'll be feeling merry when I marry Mary Mac.

As usual you can have my copy here Irish@prof

Mick,

Looks good. ON the Great Big Sea CD "Up", I am convinced that they use "mother" instead of "father" in the first two lines of the chorus. It adds another "m" to the alliterative strings.
