I'm trying to find the tune for this song by Sidney Carter (click). Has anybody the equipment to send it to me via media windows or ABC. Ive been through the DT threads. I'm told its a lovely song.

I've tried to find it- but don't appear to have it anywhere and can't find it on the web.

Sydney's publishers are well-known for their reluctance to allow any of his songs to be published elsewhere, but I'm sure that "All will be well" eventually.

A lot of the hymnals have "Lord of the Dance" and sometimes one or another Sydney Carter song. Some of the Sing Out! publications have Carter songs, but not this particular song (except that the words and chords are in Rise Up Singing). We had to remove a number of Sydney Carter songs from the Digital Tradition, at the request of the publisher.

Julian of Norwich is recorded on either a Gordon Bok or a Bok, Trickett and Muir album on Folk Legacy.

It's on Bok, Muir, and Trickett's aptly named All Shall Be Well Again, which is the 5th CD on this Folk-Legacy page. I also HIGHLY recommend the next CD on the page, TBM's Harbors of Home.

Aloha,
Mark

Fogie,

if everything else fails, I could send you a tape with this beautiful song (GBM version from 'All shall be well again'). PM me your address if you want to get the tune this way.

Wolfgang

G'day fogie,

This is published in the book 5 of SONGS OF SYDNEY CARTER, In the present tense, 1982, Stainer & Bell, Ltd. Already having bought books 1 - 4 in 1972, I bought this one from Stainer & Bell's web site last year.

S & B are very keen to stop Sydney's songs appearing publicly - claiming this protects his rights ... but they are pursuing a totally false claim over the tune to Lord of the Dance, which Sydney openly admits he borrowed! I think it better for Sydney that his songs are freely aavailable and so are not recorded as "trad." or "anon." ... but Sydney is not able to defend his free attitude to the songs any more.

If you want the dots, PM me and I'll send an image of them - given in "G" in the book. (You could buy the book ... but you'll need your reading glasses for the words ... S & B have printed them in 5 point .. about insurance policy "fine print" size!)

Regards,

Bob Bolton

Saint Julian's pronouncement "All will be well again" is exactly the kind of thinking Marx had in mind when he called religion "the opiate of the masses." It still is today. Nothing will be well until we make it so. Just a cheerful little thought as the world stands on the brink of the abyss.

there's a funky little book called Songs of the Spirit, published by a bunch of Quakers through FGC... I don't even know if it's still in print, let alone whether the general public would be able to track it down, but it does have the tune in question, along with quite a few others of a similar bent.

I found these dots in an old Singing Together songbook. I've also pm'd them to MMario just in case Bob didn't get round to it.

A beautiful song - I bought a copy of "When the Spirit says Sing" on our recent trip to the USA from Catherine Paton - complete with the sweet clouring book with lyrics & discography. Julian of Norwich is one of my favourites.....and I have driven everyone mad with Rubber Blubber Whale!!    Carole
