03 Mar 03 - 08:07 AM (#902264) Subject: RE: Chord Req: Greek Lightning - Jez Lowe From: Charley Noble One of my wife's favorite songs. I'll ask her if she's worked them out. You might post the lyrics if they aren't already in the Digital Tradition archives. It might provoke a quicker response. Charley Noble |
03 Mar 03 - 08:35 AM (#902283) Subject: RE: Chord Req: Greek Lightning - Jez Lowe From: George Papavgeris And one of mine too - not just because of the title either. Jez has written many "favourites" of mine. Though my preferred version of GL is the one sung by Bob Fox - insufferably brilliant singer AND guitarist AND live performer. Anyway, here goes: Verse: Am C F C Am C F C F C Dm Am F G Am Chorus: Dreams let you down, they just let you down C F But they never leave you, no they never leave you F C Dm Am |

Incidentally, I think Jez is an absolute gem and I can't understand why he's not more famous. His lyrics are poetry and demand to be listened to carefully. Maybe he'll be more recognised when he's "late". Dm F I promised to show you Greek lightning, Dm Am Oh and your heart it was easily won, Dm F Away from the drinking and fighting, Dm Am With nights in the taverns and days in the sun, Dm F We could leave drunken Saturday nights, Bb F C And them cold, damp Wednesday sign-ons, Dm G Dm F And see new skies lit up with Greek lightning. F Bb And dreams let you down; they just let you down, F G Dm F But they never leave you. |
03 Sep 09 - 08:57 AM (#2715330) Subject: RE: Chord Req: Greek Lightning - Jez Lowe From: CupOfTea Have a look on Jez Lowe's website. My memory is foggy in the morning but it was either Jez Lowe or David Francey who was selling downloadable sheet music of his songs. I thought it a wonderful marketing strategy, and one I wish other good songwriters would employ. I think it was Jez Lowe's site though... just not positive.
