Mark Knopfler's motorcycle wreck

CNN's website is reporting that Mark Knopfler was injured in a wreck on his motorcycle. The driver of the car is OK of course, but Mark has a broken collarbone and six broken ribs. He's out of the hospital and in stable condition. It also says he was supposed to start a tour of England in April - but that sounds doubtful to me.

Disturbing news, indeed, Wesley. Here's hoping that Mark recovers quickly and can continue making his wonderful music.

As bad as the injuries were, I am happy he did not break his fingers!

Get well soon, Bud.

Ouch! Collarbones seem to always be the first to go in motorcylce wrecks. Here's to a quick and easy mending with lots of time for more songs to come forth.

Why-aye, man, get better!

You might remember some of the raves posted in this thread, o.m.: Review - Ragpicker's Dream. There is also a related one with a request for the tune.

from mark's web site..
MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT: OFFICIAL STATEMENT
20/03/2003
At around lunch time on Monday 17th March, Mark Knopfler was involved in a collision in Belgravia, London whilst on his way to start rehearsals for his upcoming tour. He has six broken ribs and a broken collarbone, after being knocked from his motorbike by a car, and is now recuperating. Unfortunately this means he will not be able to perform at the Albert Hall on the 25th of March in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust with Eric Clapton. However, the show will still be going ahead with Eric Clapton and Nigel Kennedy and Friends performing "The Jam Sessions". Our main concern, as always, is for Mark's well-being and speculation about the TRD tour is premature and unhelpful. Please give us time to assess the situation. A further update will be issued shortly. Any get well cards should be sent to care of Mercury Records, 136 - 144 New Kings Road, London, SW6 4FX.

If this thread is more musical than the many below in NON Musical threads I will eat my hat; there again it could be about CD sales...

Wasn't he also involved in a big smash in some F1 Grand Prix event, back in the 80s? I seem to remember hearing about it, but I can't find sod all about it on the web.

Graham.
