Here is a shameless promotion of my son's first theatre effort out of university with the first review of his show; "The Ballad of Phil Ochs"

"The Ballad of Phil Ochs is the title of an astonishing performance currently at the Phoenix Theatre, at U. Vic. It continues Friday only, at 4:30PM both days. Admission is only $5, or by donation.
It is a "must see" for aficionados of folk music, and for those engaged in the struggle to change the world.
Zachary Stevenson is remarkable in his portrayal of Ochs, both in terms of his perfect duplication of Ochs' musical style, and in terms of the internal stuggles that Ochs, a revolutionary in a non-revolutionary period of history, experienced, until his premature death, at age 36. Treat yourself. See it this Friday."

On Fri. Apr 18 he is staging this show professionally for the first time and the playwright's wife, a theatre manager, intends to create a Canadian tour for him which may go later to the States.

Good luck with it. It's good to think someone is keeping alive the memory of a great writer.

Can't quite make it across the Atlantic to be behind Don in the queue but good luck for a great project. It all proves that good songwriting is timeless.

What's U. Vic? Where's U. Vic? Australia, New Zealand, U.K.? Elsewhere? What's its phone number? Does it have a web site?

If you want travellers to see it, or if you want people to tell their friends who might be nearby, then you need to give lots of information.

Zach attended the University of Victoria, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The show played to a small but very enthusiastic audience last night in Duncan, B.C. Incredibly ,a woman was in the audience who had been at Phil's disastrous Carnegie Hall concert when he wore his gold lame suit and she led the round of booing that was a part of that scene. Someday most of you will get a chance to see this show. I can' think of anything like it as a theatre piece on folk music.

Bring the show to Britain and I'll be there!

What would Ochs have been writing now, were he still here?

I am currently compiling potential tracks prior to cutting a CD, and "Pleasures of the Harbour" and "The Highwayman" are high on the list.

Lanfranc; I just had the opportunity of singing " I Ain't Marching Anymore" and " Universal Soldier " ( by Buffy St. Marie) as an opener for a speech by Dr. Helen Caldicott, the anti-nuclear activist from Australia on Friday. Little did Phil Ochs know that his music would still be significant today , having lost all hope when he packed it in, in 1976. I have high hopes that my son Zach will be the reincarnation of Phil Ochs and deliver his ideas to a new generation.
