Published in Chicago, has lots of info relevant to organizations and pubs, etc, featuring Celtic/Gaelic music. Most of it's Irish of course. A lot of places shut down in the summer, so that may limit your choices. There's some suburban places that may be able to do something as well. The Irish Fest I suggest because Milwaukee is so close to Chicago, and the organizers may be able to give you referrals to "lead-in" type events to the Fest held in Chicago in the month running up to their event, which is HUGE Do you not have a contact person to work with there? |

Also, I forgot: Chicago Cultural Center and Chicago Humanities Festival and Irish American Heritage Center and Beverly Art Center (They do a summer festival, and sponsor the Irish Film Festival) and Illinois St Andrew Society and Royal Scottish Country Dance Society All of the above would likely be able to help you get some gigs doing song workshops, and would be culturally in tune to your sort of stuff. |

The Lake County Folk Club, north of Chicago might be a place to look as well. I suspect that google can turn up links to them. If it weren't so close to the Fox Valley Folk Festival, they would probably be interested as well. I've been thinking furiously the last couple days and can also think of some individuals that might want to try setting up an informal workshop or house concert, but think that might not get as many people as you'd need to justify setting it up. Like I mentioned, above, a lot of places shut down in the summer around here. |
