10 May 03 - 09:13 AM (#949868) Subject: Lyr Req: Sail the Salt Sea From: Wotcha At a recent session I heard a song of the sea sung to the tune of Quare Bungle Rye. The refrain had words to the effect "To sail the salt sea." The DT is not returning results. Cheers, Brian |

10 May 03 - 02:00 PM (#950032) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sail the Salt Sea From: Vinland Jim Payne wrote "Wave Over Wave" in the 1980s. The recitation, which was performed as part of the original stage version of the song, was written by Janice Spence. The tune of the song is similar to "Quare Bunger Rye", but varies from it in several places. Also Jim uses unconventional harmony in his arrangement. A piano/vocal/guitar arrangement of the song can be found in "Catch Ahold This One" www.vinlandmusic.ca It's been recorded by several groups, including Great Big Sea. Vinland |
