Goderich 2003 Celtic Roots Festival. August 8th-10th, Goderich Ontario Canada. As in previous years (this is our 11th) it is a celebration of folk music and craft art traditions from "celtic" nations and elsewhere. Please refer to www.celticfestival.ca for more information. I'll be happy to answer questions about it here too, or simply shake your hand if you visit.

Anyone coming?

Peace, Mooh.

The timimg's slightly off I'm afraid. But I am holidaying in Ontario from 7th to 21st July. Are there any events I should aim for. (I know I'll just miss Mariposa).

Check the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals site for other festivals. I don't have the pamphlet handy. There are several excellent festivals in Ontario.

Phil, you'll be pleased, we finally fixed the shower!

I should mention that Dervish and Davey Spillane/Kevin Glackin will be there on the Friday only. Daybreak will add a little bluegrass to the celticness. Mudcatter Phil Cooper and Cooper Nelson and Early will be there. Sean Keane returns, as does Calasaig and several domestic acts. Local darlings Kerrykeel will be there naturally, it's the artistic directors' band. Lots of craft art and vendors, dance, storytelling, children's area, and food.

Great fun!

Peace, Mooh.

Rich A...Yes, Crucible is slated to play. I've heard a demo of theirs, I think a live recording, which is very good. I love this kind of stuff!

Hey wait a minute, are you Richard Arrowsmith? Cool! Great instrumentation and vocal harmonies. Come say hello, I'll be at instrument lock-up.

Peace, Mooh.

Last time I spoke to Stephen Rees, Crasdant was planning on taking part. Very worth a listen ...

sian...True enough, Crasdant will be there. I know the artistic director will likely have a cd but I haven't heard one yet. What are they like? About all I know is they're Welsh, and we need to hear more Welsh music.

daylia...Come round and say hello!

Peace, Mooh.

Rich...There are some pretty good afterhours sessions most years, if you're interested. There must be something in the air 'cause we're pretty pumped about this year's festival.

On the craft front there will be stained glass, stonecarving, jewelry, pottery, knitting (there are usually some great hand-knit sweaters), blacksmithing, and other art. Some will be involved via demonstrations and workshops.

The festival store will be dealing t-shirts and cds and the like. Our logo changes every year, so lots of folks like to get a new t-shirt every year.

Peace, Mooh.

Crasdant are great guys. Stephen Rees has been over before - but I can't remember if it was to Goderich or Orillia - when he played with Ar Log. He plays a number of things, but a superb accordionist above all else - and also plays a mean pibgorn. Robin Huw Bowen is on triple-harp, of course, and that's worth the ticket price on it's own. Huw Williams plays guitar, but they're also experimenting with using his clogging as the 'percussion' in the group. I don't know Andy McLauchlin but they sound great together.

For those who are there, if ya see Pierre Schryer, tell him I said HI!

If ya don't know who he is, he's only one of the worlds BEST fiddle players...
