I have loved this song for over 30 years and I'm just now getting around to learning it. The chords above are slightly different from what I worked out. As an old man, in the modern world with all its hair-trigger sensibilities, I'm a little nervous about performing this song in front of an audience. I don't know if I'll get scowls for singing "she's not getting any younger" because maybe that's something only a woman can get away with saying about a woman these days. And the guy who sends the roses seemed like an object of sympathy in 1987, but I'm sure there will be people who would call him a stalker now. But the song is beautiful, and I think I'm going to give it a shot anyway. |
