Tune Req: Ode to the Little Brown Shack Out Back

Subject: Lyric req. The little shack out back
From: GUEST

Sometime in the mid '60s, a novelty song came out about an old outhouse which the local government wanted torn down because it was an eyesore. The owner objected, because of sentimental value. A verse: "It wasn't fancy built at all It had newspaper on the wall It was air conditioned in the wintertime It was just a humble hut But it's door was never shut And a man could get inside without a dime."

The chorus: "Don't let 'em tear that little brown buildin' down Don't let 'em tear that little brown buildin' down Don't let 'em tear that little brown buildin' down For there's not another like it in the city or the town."

I've been trying to find at least the lyrics (I still remember the melody, is that sick or what?) for many years. Can anyone help? Dave Howard dahowa@aol.com

It's called The Little Brown Shack, by Billy Edd Wheeler. Look for "shack"--it's in the Digital Tradition.
