From: DonMeixner Over here, 20 some odd ounces of the stuff sold for US import if bought at a pub claiming to be authentic and Irish or English. 16 ounces if bought in a sports bar and poured by a bar maid who pours Coors Light all day long and simply fills the plastic cup (Gasp!!) and hands it to you looking like a Root Beer float. 10 ounces if bought at The Local Parrish Irish Fest where Irish music is either Danny O'Donnell wannabees who are French or Italian or The Glengarry Bhoys who are Canadian Scottish rockers and the money goes mainly to buy new uniforms for the Little League Hockey Team. 8.5 ounces if bought in the grocery store where the bottle is probably older than the Christmas Fruitcakes. The only thing consistant in all this is the price, $4.00 a glass. Don |

I think it was $4.50 last time I was there. However: Thanks to Guinness's "St. Patrick's Season" promotion, we got some free glassware to compensate. With each pint bought this week, the buyer gets to keep his specially-printed commemorative pint glass. I suppose that's worth the extra half-dollar. 12 Mar 05 - 05:14 PM (#1433265) Subject: RE: BS: How much is a pint of Guinness? From: Big Al Whittle its okay.personally I favour a high price. It has to be said that after twelve pints or so your throat gets very sticky and it loses ita ability to cure thirst, and then your shit turns black. there other unpleasant side effects, like drunkeness. a higher price would dissuade you from further excesses - perhaps. I saw Ian Paisley on the telly once saying Guinness is bad for you. Maybe his black attire is to remind him constantly of that twelve pint moment when the pooh hits the pan. |

I served a lengthy apprenticeship drinking Theakstons Old Peculiar. However one hot dinner time driving to a gig in Nottingham, it suddenly dawned upon me - Guinness is more intense. And the cold herby taste was everything I anticipated. I don't think its a great drink to drink by the bucketful. But after setting up the PA and doing a fiddly soundcheck - it has magic powers to relax the artist and sooth troubled nerves. Unfortunately my devotion to the bottle was unmeasured and unwise. However to those who can still enjoy Guinness, and keep within the expansive bourne of civilised behaviour - my compliments! |
