'Name That Band!'

In another thread, Bob Hitchcock said his band is "Name That Band" because it needs a name. I know if we post this as a request, he will get more names than a body can stand!

I think "Free Beer and Stripper" has already been used.

Thanks for starting this thread pdq.

The band plays mostly Folk/Rock covers and a few originals in the same style. We cover people like Warren Zevon, John Hiatt, Richard Thompson, Dylan, Byrds etc. Our line up is Drums, Bass, Accoustic Guitar, Mandolin and myself on Electric Guitar. We have played 3 gigs so far at the Royal Mile in Wheaton, Maryland and are starting to think about branching out a little.

Some other suggestions we had were -

Counting Crowsfeet
5 Hot Studs
Identity Crisis
The Elderberries
Revolving Door
The Slightly Above Average White Band.

We all liked "5 Hot Studs", however at our rather advanced ages we might have a problem living up to that one.

Anyway I'm looking forward to reading what you guys can think up, and the winner gets free admision to the next gig.

Thanks..................Bob.

I remember Al "Jazzbo" Collins, a 1950's hipster, trying to make a comeback as a Rock DJ in '67 or '68. He (at least) claimed to have two large wheels set up. The one on the right had 30 nouns, the one on the left had 30 adjectives. Each hour he would spin the two wheels and invent a new name for a band. "Chocolate Magpies" or "Transcendental Telephone", etc., etc., almost endless possibilities. Very "like 60's, dudes". Actually, it might work on stage as part of the show...no there is an idea...

How about "They Might Be Geezers"

or "Jerry Atricks and the Pacemakers"

or "High Fiber Five"

or "The MetaMusicals"

or "The Rogaine Rangers"

Then there's always "The BenGay Boys"

or "The Medicine Men" (I take so many now I don't need breakfast!)
