I listened to the Yellow Hammers recording and the Carters follow it faithfully except for a couple of minor changes such as Sara, appropriately, substituting 'guitar' for 'banjo' in the last stanza.

Dale, I'll save you the trouble of typing out 'Little Log Cabin'. Will you check it over for me? The Carters accents can be tricky at times.

Re Cabin. I hear old instead of holed in the first line. Calmed the stormy Galilee instead of calmed the storm in Galilee. Flowing word does not make the best of sense to me, but it is what I hear, too. And I hear wondrous book instead of wondrous look. We're pretty close though, like you say, they are not the easiest to figure out sometimes.

The Yellow Hammers are a bit easier. I heard two VERY minor differences which are not the least bit important, and one only slightly more so. That has been hanging instead of It's been hanging, and And I lost my dear old mother rather than Since. Since sounds better to me and may well be the way he wrote it, and he just happened to sing it the other way that day. The biggest difference is off and gone not all have gone. And of course, he says BANJO! instead of guitar.

You guys did good jobs. It is a heck of a lot easier figuring things out with the words in front of you!

Ahhh, those Yellow Hammers. Listening to the rest of the album as I type this! They definitely don't make 'em like that anymore.

Thanks, Dale. I went with 'look' because it made a rhyme rather than repeating 'book' - I heard both on different listenings! I was thinking in terms of a glimpse of the city, but you are probably right. With the 'flowing word', at first I thought she was singing 'flowing verse', which would make more sense, but I agree she's singing 'word'.

Like you, I listened to the whole Yellow Hammers album after digging it out. They certainly don't make 'em like that anymore - delicious stuff!
