I hope that you are all filling yourselves on Turkey.

Happy Columbus Day to our American friends.

I thought Canadians didn't like to be called Canucks.
When I was at School for Scottish Arts, some of the kids found this out, and harassed the Canadians regularly. They of course retaliated by calling Americans Yankees. Which provoked quite an itneresting response from the kids from the south.

I for one would really like to know where the term "Canuck" comes from. Does anyone know? I am aware of the legend "Johnny Canuck," but where did the actual term spring from?

Happy Thanksgiving from a Yankee to our Canadian friends.

By the way, contrary to what our Southern bretheren profess Yankees only live in the five New England states, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. (this does not include Maine)
God Bless you all south of the Mason-Dixon line. And, I wouldn't have said that 50 years ago.

You can call me Canuck... whatever... Just don't call me in to eat more turkey o.k....

Me and the herd of folks we fed last night came up with an idea for a book we're gonna write somewhere a few years down the road... given how often we stuff ourselves into 'food comas', we're gonna title it "30 Years Of Dinner Parties. Still No Fatalities" Although a few of us came close to breaking that record last night!

We had meatloaf. I'm not sure why. It was OK.

Great weather anyway. I got some exterior painting (the high gables of my house) done, that i've been putting off for like three years.

I don't mind being called a canuck or a blunoser...ate too much turkey and Blueberry Grunt and loved every minute of it. My cat ate a load of dressing and gravy and slept soundly for twelve hours..the dog had turkey and slept next to the cat...ah bliss, autumn long weekends are the best.

I celebrated my first Canadian Thanksgiving in Canada yesterday. JtS and I were guests at his mother's place and she fixed us a fine meal. The weather was beautiful, and the day was perfect. Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone!

CarolC - just a guess, but are you from the southern US?

Turkey on Sunday, hamburger on Monday. Got skunked trout fishing on Saturday, but had a glorious autumn day on Georgian Bay anyway. It poured rain Sunday morning so I didn't clean out the eaves. Spent part of Sunday with my aging mother and my sisters. Jammed with a pal on Monday. Hugged my wife and kids and was thankful I could.

Peace, Mooh.

One of Hollowfox's fearfully intelligent offspring taught me the Latin phrase "Cibus est bonus et nemo est mortus nos omnes gaudeamus."   The feast was good, and nobody died let us rejoice. I think that belongs in your book.

Oh, VERY good! I've cut and pasted that phrase and will use it repeatedly. Thank you!
