And there is a free beer for anyone who cna categorically prove they have seen and heard me singing it! To really understand this song (parody) you must be a) Environmentally aware (most of us are now) b) British and aware of the New towns of the 60's – Basildon, Bracknell, Peterlee etc. c) Know what Peterlee (North East England) was like before new towns and of course in this case a government improvement grant. d) Harpic – a popular loo bleach – not sure if it is still available. Anorak off, the song goes! There was a magic toilet the finest in the land With fairies elves and cherubs around his ornate pan His pipes were made of silver His cistern was the same Sweet smelling rushing water when you pulled his magic chain Chorus Flush the magic toilet lived by the sea and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Peterlee Flush the magic toilet filled up the sea polluting all the beaches for folks like you and me Now flush lived in a little room out side of Sues back door And cold December's icy winds made little Susie raw With frostbite on her fingers And chilblains on her bum Very soon she traded him in for a centrally heated pan Chorus Now flush was broken hearted when he found he'd lost his friend He overdosed on Harpic and went clean right round the bend Missing lines – Senior moment!!!!!! – Will look for them He overdosed on Harpic and he flushed himself away Hmm.... I think another senior moment there!!!! |

More senior moments I now remember some more of the verses, now that someone else has put them up. It is amazing how many parodies have been put to this tune! Some not very politically correct now as you may imagine. Still off now tarra A |
