Oldham Tinkers

Just a little advance warning that the Tinkers are appearing Live on Andy Kershaws new Sunday Night Radio show on Radio 3 BBC 2nd Nov

(also available on the Beeb website all next week)
Tx times 2200-2400 (UK time)
Although initially only 20 - 25 minutes will be broadcast on Sunday night, plenty more songs were recorded in Studio "YG1" (named after a famous drinking horse!) and will no doubt appear in future programmes.

On fine form, as always, the session came as some surprise to the normal lunchtime inhabitants of the pub! (Mmmm wonder if they had a PEL?)

Tune in if you can to hear, "The Real Thing"

Ralphie   Just ignore the second noodly mandolin!

Hey Stru...Am not worthy to be anything than a very occasional Southern Bastard as far as the Tinks are concerned...!!!
Seriously though, It's not often you can generate so much warmth in a west end London pub on a tuesday lunchtime, as these guys did..
Just hope the atmosphere transfers to the radio on sunday.

Oh, and slight thread creep...
They all had fine and fond memories of Dave Weatherall, beers where taken in his memory.

"A Mon like thee" indeed

You should have mentioned that people can go to www.oldhamtinkers.com and have a look at the lads' CDs available to buy.

Cheers

Good point Mark.
Also a lot of arm twisting went on for them to do a new one too!

They're at the Mechanics in Burnley with Bernard on the 7th, NOT Porkies. It's Bob Fox at Porkies - still a good night then!

Nice to hear the Tinkers on Andy Kershaw's radion 3 programme last night and a great idea to have it recorded in a pub - even with (i think) Andy's raucous laughter in the background. A bit late and not long enough but grand all't same. Always nice hearing John's tales of his granny Cooney. Well y'all and more please!

Well VIN
Yes it was indeed Mr K's raucous laughter...must get a new gag!
There is plenty more of that recording to come. Rest assured that I'll be pushing for more of the Tinks as soon as Andy gets back from his latest travels!

Great to hear that Ralphie, cheers! Shall look forward to hearing the rest of the recording. Wonder if it's good enough for a special CD??
