From: CapriUni Wilco48 was looking for the Guthrie song, which, if I recall correctly, was issued on a cassette of songs he wrote for his children, along with a book of lyrics with watercolor illustrations he had done, that was published posthumously. However, I learned a version of the earlier song as a Mother Goose Rhyme, with which my grandmother would greet me (and all her grandchildren), shaking hands vigorously on the "How do you do?" part. The Mother Goose version (as my grandmother sang it) went like this: Misty, moisty morning, and cloudy was the weather Along came an old man, all dressed in leather. He began to compliment, and I began to grin. "How do you do, and how do you do, and how do you do again?" I credit that ritual with two things: teaching me how to shake hands on greeting, and a love of misty moisty mornings. Thanks, Josie, wherever you are! |

I have listened to sound samples of several of these (at Barnes&Noble) and it seems they are always using "Keep on the Sunny Side" as their theme. |
