08 Sep 98 - 01:17 PM (#37438) Subject: Never-ending love From: Paul Here's a song that my wife sings, but she only knows the one verse: I have a never-ending love for you From now on that's all I'm gonna do From the first time we met I knew I'd sing a never-ending song of love for you. PLEASE give me more of the lyrics! |
08 Sep 98 - 01:33 PM (#37441) Subject: Lyr Add: NEVER ENDING SONG OF LOVE (from D Parton) From: Earl It was on Cowpie but it's so short I thought I'd post it anyway. I remember it done in the 70's by Delaney and Bonnie. NEVER ENDING LOVE by Dolly Parton Chorus I've got a never ending love for you From now on,that's all I want to do From the first time we met I knew I'd have a never ending love for you After all this time of being alone We can love one another, feel for each other From now on.....Feel so good I can hardly stand it Repeat Chorus |
08 Sep 98 - 01:42 PM (#37444) Subject: RE: Never-ending love From: Joe Offer I imagine hearing just that fragment might be kind of like listening to "Small, Small World." Your wife could say worse things to you, ya know.... You'll find the rest of the lyrics at the International Lyrics Serveror Cowpie. These sources are wrong in attributing the song to Dolly Parton, though. Words and music were written in 1971 by Delaney Bramlett, of Delaney and Bonnie fame. -Joe Offer- |
08 Sep 98 - 01:57 PM (#37445) Subject: RE: Never-ending love From: Earl Joe, Thanks for fixing the breaks. It makes more sense that Delaney Bramlet wrote it. Neither International nor Cowpie has any more words though. |
08 Sep 98 - 03:00 PM (#37451) Subject: RE: Never-ending love From: Joe Offer Well, Earl, there are actually four verses, but they're almost all the same except that they substitute verbs - just put in "sing," "got," and "have" wherever you'd like. Officially, though, Verses 1 and 2 are identical - they start with I've got and end with I'd have. Verses 3 and 4 start with I've got and end with "I'd sing my never-ending song of love to you." The bridge, (after all this time...) goes after verses 2 and 3. I like this kind of song, because I can actually get through the whole thing without screwing up the lyrics too bad..... -Joe Offer- |
08 Sep 98 - 03:22 PM (#37453) Subject: RE: Never-ending love From: Earl Maybe the bridge will provide Paul some relief. |
08 Sep 98 - 05:25 PM (#37468) Subject: Lyr Add: NEVER ENDING SONG OF LOVE (D Bramlett) From: Ralph Butts Here it is as transcribed from the record. Some slight variations as you go, you can see. My wife (tambourine) and I (guitar) do this one at too-high volume to the great delight (and surprise) of everyone......Tiger

08 Sep 98 - 06:07 PM (#37476) Subject: RE: Never-ending love From: Dale Rose Neither of those versions sound right to me. I never was a fan of Delaney and Bonnie (listening to other stuff about then) and I certainly can't recall it by Dolly Parton. So who? ~~ Dickie Lee, maybe? |
08 Sep 98 - 06:59 PM (#37484) Subject: RE: Never-ending love From: harpgirl Gawd...I used to sing this in a band in Arkansas in the 1970's. I'll see if I can dig up more words because I think there are more too. Did I hear Herb Pederson do it? harpgirl no it was Gail Davies!!!! |
08 Sep 98 - 07:01 PM (#37487) Subject: RE: Never-ending love From: Gene Hi Dale! I don't know who wrote or might of also recorded it... But I do know that Dickey Lee had the DEFINITIVE and MOST AIRED recording of it...

09 Sep 98 - 12:33 PM (#37596) Subject: RE: Never-ending love From: Paul Wow! So many answers. Now if I can bother you a bit more... Can anyone provide me with the melody to the refrain? I'll take it in standard notation, guitar tab, mandolin tab, or even harmonica tab if I you've got it. (Okay, I'd prefer not harmonica tab; that's nasty stuff to read). If you have to send it to me as an attachment, my email is: warmish@yahoo.com Thanks |
09 Sep 98 - 04:52 PM (#37643) Subject: Tune Add: NEVER ENDING SONG OF LOVE (D Bramlett) From: Joe Offer Well, here's the tune. Note that there is a 3-bar instrumental break after "from now on." There are a lot of rests and other crazy things in this, so the ABC may not turn out. The MIDI should work, though. -Joe Offer-

The "Friends" of Delaney & Bonnie And Friends included backing artists at various times: Rita Coolidge, Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Leon Russell, Dave Mason, and many others. Debuted on 6/26/71; Peaked at Charted position #13 for 10 weeks. Atco Label #6804 I remember this song well because I had just graduated from college and was on my way to the Army in a few months thereafter. 05 Mar 06 - 10:42 AM (#1685607) Subject: RE: Req/ADD: Never-Ending Song of Love From: Joe Offer Am I correct in recalling that the recording of this song had a lot of background noise, like the restaurant songs that served as the background for the Trini Lopez recordings? I suppose it's corny and all, but I've always kinda liked this song for some reason. I suppose "pseudo-folk bubblegum music" might be a pretty good description of the style. But heck, it's catchy. -Joe- |
05 Mar 06 - 10:47 AM (#1685610) Subject: RE: Req/ADD: Never-Ending Song of Love From: Purple Foxx Very catchy Joe. I hadn't given it a moments thought in over 30 years & for the last 48 hours I haven't been able to get it out of my head. Another "Earworm" |
05 Mar 06 - 04:37 PM (#1685875) Subject: RE: Req/ADD: Never-Ending Song of Love From: Lonesome EJ michael Someone asked for the chords or tablature. I simply cut and pasted the earlier lyrics. Believe me, I could give a sh!t less whether Dolly Parton, Delaney Bramlett, or Oscar Hammerstein wrote it. Its a tune you can whistle, but it ain't exactly Macarthur Park. |
