I know this is non-folk but my daughter is desperate, and the Mudcat has come through in so many ways! For homework Maggie has to come up with a few informative, detailed websites on the "British Invasion" in the 1960s- Beatles, the Who, etc. She's coming up with thousands of cd offers and a few paragraphs here and there, but her teacher requires more. Any suggestions?

I know we exported Lonnie Donegan doing Anglicised American songs and a lot of Jazz Bands doing a similar thing but Cant help with the plain Pop bit.

Try AMG All Music.com and just click around or try Here for their specific article about the British Invasion.

It's a pretty good first port of call for any musical research really.

This one looks like what you want Encyclopædia Britannica - The British Invasion.
This one has links to websites which might help
More links to other sites
The Who - unofficial biography
An Article - St. James Encyclopedia of Pop Culture
This looks good for reference in general - any subject. LookSmart's FindArticles — search and read 3.5 million articles from over 700 publications Just type in "British Invasion" in their search box
And MORE
I do most of my web searching with this search engine http://vivisimo.com/.
