No one can deny sound advice. At least no sane person.

A woman I know has a son in Iraq and is more conflicted every day. Her son is essentially abducted but she is told she should feel proud.

She feels anguish, she feels confused and yes she feels sick over this whole sick situation.

She writes;

"my son being in iraq is a sorrow so personal and deep that you cannot approach an inking of what my complex feelings about him being there entail- or hazard a guess as to my political beliefs because they are scattered in a thousand contradictory voices that even i can only translate imperfectly now and again.

what i find most irritating about you is that all of your accusations and solutions are simplistic, reactionary and predictable to your bent; real people, real life-is not the paint by numbers that i see in your words time and again.

what matters to me is not this idiocy-

it is that people are dying on all sides day by day, for reasons i can only guess at. mostly i'll be wrong, but at least i have the honesty to be confused."

...............................................................

There may come a time when people will see the messenger is not to blame but I fear the hurt and hate will so deep that blame will fly in every direction except the Salon.com neocons.

They still haven't found the 11-year-old in the photos, have they?

I should add however that this Hakman fellow has an eye for metphorical contrasts that has not gone unnoticed in several circles that I travel.

Dear Mr Hammond,

A number of good presidents, such as T Rooseveldt, have said that when the president is in the wrong, it should be pointed out. When no one seems to be listening, you just have to point a little harder.

I'll second Clinton. Propaganda like this is lazy, unpleasant, unnecessary and damaging to your message.

Regarding the "abduction" of a serving soldier, what the hell did he think he was going to have to do when he joined the Army? Or did he join on the condition he wouldn't have to go overseas and wouldn't have to fight?

Graham.

Grab IT say:
" Regarding the "abduction" of a serving soldier, what the hell did he think he was going to have to do when he joined the Army? Or did he join on the condition he wouldn't have to go overseas and wouldn't have to fight?"

What you are saying shows clearly your inability to do any kind of logical reasoning. You should get a job writing for Fox News - they use the same tactic.

What they signed up for was to fight, if necessary, in a LEGITIMATE war - not a private war of GWB.
