Hi all, trim & I are wanting to add to our repertoir of tasteful numbers. We've got the words for this one, but can't find the tune. Can any one help?

There are several versions of Knickerbocker Line known from tradition, and further songs based on it or otherwise related, so it depends on where you got the words, really. Meanwhile, there is one example in a previous discussion here:

Lyr/Tune Add: THE KNICKERBOCKER LINE

The thread also includes information on various related songs such as The Cruise of the Bigler, Lachlan Tigers and The Dogger Bank. Further references can be found via the onsite search engine.

The words and tune for this are in Folksongs of Britain and Ireland edited by Peter Kennedy ISBN 0 304 93754 1

Just an idle thought, but is this related to the notorious VPL, or visible panty line, song?

Hi All, thanks for the help. Malcolm I can't seem to get the link to the MIDItext site to work. Have you got the tune in midi format or can you give me an address to download the software from?
PS What's a VPL?

It's an old link; I don't know what the new one is, I'm afraid. There's an abc of the tune as well, though; if you copy-and-paste that into the ABC Convert-A-Matic (remembering to remove any spaces that may appear at the beginning of lines), it will convert it into staff notation and/or midi for you.

Re-read John 'Giok' MacKenzie's posting and you'll realise what a VPL is.
