Lyr Req: Woman of Mystery (Dominic Behan)

The words and music were published in a slime volume of Dominic's work. I think the song was written in the early 1950's. I know the first two verses but have forgotten the rest ( two more only I think).

The first verse and chorus are:

She sings in a cafe beside the Seine,
All dressed in black.
Sombre, beguiling and smiling when
The customers all smile back.

Sing for them smiling,
Woman of mystery.
Sing for them sighing,
Add to their memories.

I'll look out the book and post tomorrow if no one else does. Oh, and "slim" volume surely?

Would that be Dominic Behan? Or some other Dominic?

verses 2-4:

She sings of a love that like wild flame burned
A love that we all know
A love sadly dying when not returned
A love of long ago

She sings of a boy that was made a man
By uniform and gun
Who died by the gun in another boy's hand
The hands of another man's son

She sings of the moments we might have seen
Had we kept watchful eye
She sings of a trust that should have been
She sings of a fond goodbye

(Words and music by Dominic Behan)

A slim volume of course and many thanks I was scrambling two verses together in my half remembered version. I shall learn it all again.
