15 Mar 04 - 03:45 PM (#1137320) Subject: Origins: All the pretty little horses From: GUEST,molly I was wondering about the history of this song...as in a year. I'm in a play and it requires a lullaby. The play is set in the 1600's. Something puritan would be best, but I can't seem to find anything. any suggestions? |

Sleep pretty wantons, do not cry, And I will sing a lullaby; Rock them, rock them, lullaby. Care is heavy, therefore sleep you; You are care, and care must keep you. Sleep pretty wantons, do not cry, And I will sing a lullaby; Rock them, rock them, lullaby. Mind you, Dekker might not have been too approved of, in a puritan household, since he wrote plays, and they were a bit Talibanesque about things like that. But maybe a lullaby woudl be acceptable? All depends how bigotted they are in the play you're doing... |
