18 Mar 04 - 04:24 PM (#1140291) Subject: RE: big bug in my beer From: Sandy Mc Lean Paul, Yesterday I posted words to a song that was already in DT. I had done a search using the title that I knew and found nothing so I posted it. I later posted some key words and found it under a different title. It would seem that the same happened here. Such is the strange workings of computers. Sandy |
18 Mar 04 - 04:38 PM (#1140307) Subject: thanks sandy From: paul1149 and i guess i was trying to use too much info by using the full name of the song, which is big bug in my beer, not bug in my beer. i just thought the response was a little o.t.t. i am aware that warner williams and jay summerour recorded this song, but they do not claim to have written it, i was hoping to find out more about where it came from cheers paul |
19 Mar 04 - 03:41 PM (#1141171) Subject: RE: big bug in my beer From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Openmike, I just tried, and the Bug in my beer only comes up with this thread. Strange! |
19 Mar 04 - 03:50 PM (#1141177) Subject: RE: big bug in my beer From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca BTW, that thread doesn't deal with really anything about the song, except for that one line. A search of the 'net and you get a few things, including a request back last November, searching for the lyrics to a song from the '20s or '30s, titled There's a Big Black Bug in My Beer. Wonder if it is the same. |
19 Mar 04 - 03:54 PM (#1141181) Subject: RE: big bug in my beer From: open mike you didn't get this one? A thread about... MUSIC! - Dec 23 2001 2:38AM - Wincing Devil i didn't mean to be--what is it -- pedantic? just wanted to give some idea how to make use of the resource here...][ often newcomers find mudcat by searching for lyrics and many times when there is a guest post it can be assumed that the person is not familiar with all the wonderous facets of the site here..and so i jsut was saying, as has often been said before to guests, try the search engine before posting a question and you may find answers! sorry if i seemed over the top. over the top of what? we often coin words here such as "getall" which is a typo in my first post...some times mudcatters acquire a language all our own! I believe i did also include a "welcome" to you! |
19 Mar 04 - 04:02 PM (#1141187) Subject: RE: big bug in my beer From: Allan C. I did a bit of poking around and will share the following quote from a web page about The 14th Annual DC Blues Festival. Whether playing his own Hey Bartender There's a Big Bug in My Beer, reworking a Tommy Johnson blues like Big Road Blues into what it would have sounded if it had been written by Blind Boy Fuller or doing a Piedmont blues classic like Red River Blues, Warner Williams astonishes with his guitar mastery and touches with the soul and warmth of his vocals. This would appear to answer the question as to authorship of the song. |
