Sir Roger and The Deanmeister pair up

19 Mar 04 - 03:33 AM (#1140647)
Subject: Sir Roger and The Deanmeister pair up
From: GUEST,Sir Roger at work

The Dean and I will be playing at the Sun Inn, Beverley on Sunday 4th of April. This will be on the same day as the "First Sunday of the month" session at the Monk's Walk just across the road so we expect to see lots of played out folkies turn up around 9pm to watch us strut our stuff.

Those that have seen us play separately and together will know that we both have a very wide range of styles in our repertoire so expect to hear material from Trad to Travis, Buddy Holly to Joe Jackson, Bluegrass to Busted, Oakley to Oasis etc etc

Wow! This sounds like the Beverley version of Blind Faith, there are supergroups forming all over at the moment, what with this pairing and jenny joining the harri watts band, it's all too much!

Congratulations. On behalf of the Hull9 membership, I'd like to wish you both happiness for many years to come. Are you having a hand-wringing party like they do in Selby?

Is this the same Dean who used to play with that dreadfull band punch the horse? They are nearly as boring and unimaganitive as that other fraud fron hull, john the oaf.

I am sorry Mr.Dean, there is an imposter out there trading under my name.I hope my comments, although a little pithy, are never directly insulting to people.

Frauds such as this rank outsider are as unimaganitive and boring as the people I am fond of exposing.

In another thread, a wise man wrote:

"So many guests here, showing such concern. What guest fun I had until I was shown how easily traceable my true ID is".

Maybe the small handful of users of comedy guest handles will become as bored of this as they are boring. True; I could have logged-off and written Hugh Janus, Hugh Jampton, Ivor Biggin, Dick Head or something else rib-ticklingly hilarious in the "from" box, but I really couldn't be arsed.

I am told that the adoption of an amusing nom-de-plume on internet forums becomes less interesting after the onset of puberty. I live in hope.

Of course Ivor is right- this is self promotion. However, when two mudcat members get together to perform a free acoustic gig it is reasonable to suppose that it might be of interest to other Mudcatters and their friends. It is also reasonable, when a local licensee pays to put on said free gig, to give it all the publicity we can in the hope of filling his pub and encouraging him to do similar things in the future.

Also, every time Ivor posts to this thread it goes back up to the top of the list - lets hear from you again my friend.

:-))

The deleted thread "Oaklet is not Ivor Biggun" contained an explanation and apology from Ossonflags. He suspects that he forgot to log-off at his work computer and his details were accessed by someone with time on his hands and little in his head. Mick has promised an enquiry tomorrow and expressed his regret. The opening post in the thread was vile and reptilian. I asked it to be deleted. Thanks for removing it with such speed, elves.

We had a "rehearsal" on Wednesday and so far the songs are set to include numbers by, amongst others, The Who, Joe Jackson, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, Uncle Dave Macon, Buddy Holly, Del Amitri, Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Elton John and Trad.

Michael, we had an absolutely wonderful evening. The audience was cuddly and nice, it felt like we were having a party, not a gig! Hazel and Linda sang a bit with us, Clive played the spoons, the Strat was unveiled, much to Sir Roger's iniial dismay... It was a great evening. Many thanks to all who supported us. We must do that again sometime!

The Strat was great - even if he did manage to break a string!! How do you do that on an electric guitar?

It was an excellent evening all round and it got even better when I found the loose lead on the backing singers mike and they could finally be heard.

I'd have paid to play, it was that much fun
