BS: Kendall's great adventure

26 Apr 04 - 04:44 AM (#1170994)
Subject: BS: Kendall's great adventure
From: jacqui.c

Kendall here,

I'm like a kid in a candy shop...so many things to do, so little time!
So far, I have seen Hatfield House, Lincoln cathredral, Sherwood forest, a bit of London, Stonehenge, Glastonbury, Avebury, Camelot and Tintagle, thanks to my dear friends, Morticia and Jacqui C.
I'm now in Hertford with Jacqui C. if anyone wants to contact me.
I'll be at Hastings this weekend, and probably in London the following weekend.

I'll have to start singing slightly different words to Sydney Carter's "Eros" song.

First the Norman's conquered us,
Now we've got the yanks sir,
If you look like Kendall Morse,
Then you know who to thank sir.

Seriously, glad you're enjoying it Kendall, make sure you take it easy though.

PS - Has Jacqui still got that silly smile on her face ?

Hey, there's a neolithic flint mine up in East Anglia. Believe it or not, it's an interesting visit. And, of course, Castle Riding's up there too.

Glad you're having a good one.

There are Llamas in Harlow, in the town park at pets corner.

Though if our council had its way it would have been built on by now. They're trying to build on every green space we have here

Sorry for the thread creep

Kendall here - I dont' know how many Mudcatters live in this general area or what you have for spare time, but if you would like to get together for sightseeing or just hanging out and picking I'm here in Hertford at Jacqui's and available on weekdays during the day.

If you have any suggestions you can pm Jacqui and I'll come back to you.

Hey Kendall, your puppy misses you. A van pulled up today as I walked him and a man who looked a little like you stepped out. Seamus nearly pulled me off my feet getting to him then looked at me disappointed. He needs some rough play and a catfree house.

Although he and Fred play together. Fun to watch.

I dreamed about him last night. Give him a hug for me. How about you take something of mine, an old shirt or whatever, and leave it on his bed?
I've decided to not stay the full time, but don't know yet just when I'll be home. 6 weekes is too long,I have so much to do on the boat, and I miss home.

Went to London by train today with Jacqui. Met Ellenpoly who guided me around the city. We went to the British museum where I saw some of the things I've always wanted to see. The Rosetta stone and the parts of the Parthenon which were borrowed by Lord Elgin.

Spent quite a bit of time riding the double deck buses, which was a treat in itself. They put those things through spaces I wouldn't try a mini.
Westminster cathedral, the big wheel and the Horse guards. If they needed guarding, why were they out on the street?
On to Trafalgar Square, and to Downing street, but Tony wasn't around to let us in.

I PMd some more local sites you could get to by bus.

Just delivered Seamus to your house to be tended by Rebecca. He had a long walk in the woods and a ride in the car. My house seems empty without a large ball of fur tripping me up. I will get him a shirt to snuggle.

Meantime my brother and his wife are visiting with THEIR DOG! A yippy little terrier who is spoiled beyond belief. Remember Martha and her little runt who was bathed after every romp in the garden? My poor cats.

Give me some notice if you are coming back earlier. I will have to move out the renters.

If we get back reasonably early from Hastings and aren't too tired we'll be heading for the Waltham Abbey singaround on Monday night - so anyone that wants to say hello and goodbye........

Kendal, in my PM , one of the places I suggested was St.Albans about 15 miles from Hertford. I hear that Mel Gibson's next film is to be about Boudicia, the warior queen who led a revolt against the Romans.
She destroyed the town of Verulameum whose excavated streets can be walked in present day St.Albans.

We did St. Albans last friday. It was cold and wet, but I'm glad I saw it.
This weekend, we went to Hastings for the Jack in the green festival, with a stop in Battle. My ancestors landed there in 1066 with Wm. the Conqueror. Looking around the town of Hastings, I got to wondering why they landed in such a crowded place...all those cars and crazy bastards on the wrong side of the road just looking for someone to run over. And the parking fees! outrageous! No wonder they killed each other!
