BS: SINSULL's Turn

04 May 04 - 04:01 PM (#1177698)
Subject: BS: SINSULL's Turn
From: SINSULL

This past Thursday I had a huge infected lymph node removed and some additional biopsies done. My mastitis wasn't mastitis after all. But it also wasn't cancer. I seem to have contracted a bacterial infection possibly cat scratch fever which settled in the lymoh nodes. Antibiotics seemed to have killed off the bacteria but the infection was huge and not going away. I decided to err on the side of caution and have the mess removed and tested. It had the possibility of being cancer or exploding into a huge systemic infection.

Initial test results show no cancer or pre-cancer. The last results will take several weeks. They want to rule out tuberculosis. Meantime I am home sulking. My brother and his wife spent a few days looking after me. Spacey hardly describes my condition on Percoset.

So I am now joining the ever growing group of catters in recovery. Come gather in the Recovery thread and I will share my meds.

I'm so glad it wasn't anything worse and so grateful you got something done about it! Let me pour you some good gin, the stuff they put in the I.V's is watered.

Hey Sins, thanks for keeping me abreast of what's happenning. Since my hip surgery, I am something of an expert on pain pills. Here's a short lesson: They come in all colors. The bigger they are, the more expensive they are. The smaller they are, the more deadly (effective) they are. The lighter, the better. By far the most powerful are the little tiny white ones. (I once dropped one on the floor and it burned a hole). Also, those little white darlings bring a good price on the street. Stay away from oxicontin, unless you plan on going into the radio talk show business!!!! (O.K., I'll find my coat now and steall quietly away). Hugs, Bob

Deep sigh of relief that cancer is definitely ruled out. Trust you to get something exotic that flummoxes the medicos. (big grin) Are you SURE it isn't Oak Blight?

I was thinking about you somewhere between Portsmouth Hospital (visiting a friend who just had knee surgery) and Motor Vehicles for Tom's tempory handicapped placard, trying to remember when you said you were having the surgery.

Gimme a call if you feel like it or I'll give you a call. Are you still playing Mom to Seamus?!?

Don, Be Careful Do NOT flush them down the toilet! I did that, and the next thing I knew my toilet was crusing around our bathroom ceiling yelling that he wanted a shower. Go Figure!!!. Bob

"Hey Sins, thanks for keeping me abreast of what's happenning." Funny how the mind works, isn't it, Bob?!

This is, indeed, good news, Mary. It is so nice to have all those good wishes and positive thoughts produce this kind of result. I'm also glad you came straight to the point about it all without mixing in a bunch of vague titillations. It is also good that your meds were able to prevent your being racked with pain. The world is filled with enough boobie traps without stuff like this to deal with.

well! Infections and miseries are Nature's way of telling you that you are mortal and can't spend ALL your time helping others! *wry grin*...

So, it's good news/bad news ...with the good news winning. We'll look for updates...take care--and as many yummy pills as they'll let you have.

(I went thru my college graduation with cat scratch fever (from a bite on the hand) total misery!...makes you want to switch to goldfish!)

Only some kind of a Brazen Boob would make a comment like that. I'll bet you were in your cups when you thought of it. Probably just tittered away to your self as you hit the submit button.

Well, maybe I'll settle for a huge sigh of relief and recovery wishes headed north.

Love Ya,

Hi Mary

So glad to hear that things are OK so far. Kendall's just about on his way back and ready to get his revenge for the looking after earlier this year. He says that he can be a mother too, at least that's part of what a guy called him when he didn't get out of the way in time crossing a London street!

We can compare scars. Gee - Jen Ellen, Me, Kendall, Spaw, Curmudgeon, Deckman - who else wants to join the Scar-borough Fair. Prizes even.

Well - over the past five months I've managed to collect three scars, two on the foot and one beauty right down the stomach. Add to one on each hand for Carpals Tunnel ops.....

I saw Kendall off at the airport so he's on his way home as I type.

Glad to hear so far so good!

I've been hacked on a bit, but not much of it shows. Sinus surgery about nine years ago, and Lord was it nice to be able to breath through my nose again!!! Endoscopy, no visible scars. When I busted my left leg real good in 2000, they put a titanium rod in my femur and bolted it in place with four screws. If I ever go throught an airport metal detector, I'll give them wall-eyed fits!

I was wondering about Bob's (Deckman's) hip surgery. I guess I haven't been keeping up with some of the latest trends, but isn't "hip" surgery something like body piercing? You know, navel rings, tongue studs, and such???

I have a little scar on my foot from the bunionectomy last summer, but it hardly shows because he doctor did it in the little divit beside the tendon and Scandinavians don't usually have scars that show for long--they fade to pasty white. The hysterectomy scars hardly show because they did that from below--I had three bandaids on my tummy when they finished. Course it felt like someone had gone through my insides with a handheld mixer. . .

I think Bob certainly gets double points for his surgery, since they not only replaced his hip (as Don says, he used to "hip," now he's "cool"), they broke his leg in the process!

Geez, Curmudgeon's scar is nothing to look at right now -- for the time being no beauty prizes. What are the points based on? Grossness? Size? Location?

Well I'm getting quite a collection of scars. As well as one from a broken ankle which had to be operated on in '99, and my gall bladder scar, I have a network of scars on the inside and outside of my left wrist which has now been operated on 3 times, the latest was yesterday. Should we post photos? ugh!
