Pete n Rog again

Just ten days to get your diaries sorted in order to come and see myself and the Deanmeister put on a repeat performance at the Sun Inn, Beverley on Sunday 30th May.

As before, Pete will be singing and playing acoustic guitar and his new electric axe whilst I will be singing and playing acoustic guitar, mandolin and harmonica.

We hope to have Hissyfit as our backing singers again but that remains to be confirmed.

Blimey, that came around quick! What's a guitar again? And who's Roger? Where do birds go to die? I'm confused.

Confused is your normal ground state isn't it? As in confused + drunk, confused + hungover etc etc :-))

Amos, Roger has got Deanie all worked out.
Roger "suspected" him.--sussed!!

If the last one was anything to go by, I can't wait. Maybe I will get to dance this time!

But I recon the Dean has "got me sussed" and I will be replacing guitar strings again.

Hey Amos, If you ever visit us in the UK- You'll be speaking better Yorkshire than us tha naws, aye!

And a fine guitar technician you make, John. I'm tempted to break a few strings just so that you can have a go at mine.

Incidentally, as it is the Sunday before a bank holiday Monday closing time is 11pm and not 10.30 as usual.

I just hope the beer supply lasts out. Ian, the landlord, has been having problems recently keeping stocks at a reasonable level.

Last Tuesday we arrived for our session to find that there was no hand-pulled beer at all!! I had to resort to Guinness.

Well I tried real hard to get away that weekend-but so far to no avail -so I may be up for it-hazel was also tryng to get away, but she was struggling too -if we are here we will be there if you get my drift- I will update soonest. It is my birthday weekend-please provide alcohol.

Sounds like it might be wise to bring a brown paper bag, Linda! Apparently they ran out of beer on Cara's gig, too. And last time PTH played, with me purely in a spectator's role, they ran out of Guinness and Cider, too...!! Bonkers.

And what kind of landlord has no Guinness on St. Patrick's Night?

Anyway, looking forward to a fun night. The last one was a hoot! Hope you can make it.

I have strongly advised the landlord that he need LOTS of beer in for the folk festival weekend. The way things are going, however, I wonder if he will still be there by then.

Historically that pub takes as much revenue in the FF weekend as they do in a normal month so it would be commercial suicide not to have enough beer to sell.

The Monks Walk took more money during the Cara gig than on New Year's Eve! All the punters from the Sun left and went to Monks for the rest of the evening.

Speaks volumes.

I'll check out the beer situation on Sunday afternoon when I'm running the session. If it doesn't look good perhaps we should have our Weds run through elsewhere?

This is a great shame, Landloard/lady are great, but its true- they keep running out off beer.
I was in there the other night and ordered a pint of Tim Taylors, "can you wait as its a new barrel" so I waited-
got me pint, & sat down. I went back 30mins latter for another pint--------sorry its all gone!!!!

Rog- I too have told them about the festival, they must do something.

Yours sincerley,

Yes, we are still on for the session this Sunday. Pete and I are on the following Sunday.

We can only work on the basis that evrything will be OK and turn up to do our best.

I can only surmise from the distinct lack of interest in this thread that we'll be playing with ourselves on Sunday, Rog. No change there, then....

At least there'll be enough beer for the two of us!

When we had our run through last night Pete stuck to cider (in case the beer ran out)with rather interesting results. Couldn't get him to agree to do the Flaming Lips song that I want to play though.

Twenty nine posts between two people surely only constitutes a

conversation and not a thread. Why don't you two folks just ring each

other, rather than clutter up the forum with your chit chat?

27 May 04 - 08:41 AM (#1194881)
Subject: RE: Pete n Rog again

Well because there may be lots of other people interested in what they say. Just because we don't post doesn't mean we don't read. Anyway, if you don't like this thread why read it, let alone post to it?

I started this thread as publicity for a gig. Everytime anyone (lone shark included) posts to the thread it goes back to the top of the list and, potentially, someone else will read it and, possibly, come to the gig.

I won't be posting to the thread after the gig is over.

Oh, look, there it is at the top of the list again :-))

I reckon he wasn't really trying. He even took the precaution of borrowing a string from me before we started so that he had one of each as a spare - that smacks of preparation - not what we expect from Pete :-)

We had a good time though didn't we?
