best selection of slides in the uk?

I went to Kevin Browns seminar on slide guitar a few weeks ago in Bath. Totally inspired me. I have been playing slide and practicing ever since.

However I'm using a standard john dunlop slide at pres, its okay but I feel there must be something out there that suits me better.

I bought a new shubb one and can't get on with it and I tried those glass blown ones at the seminar, and they didn't feel right.

So does anybody know of a shop in the uk, where they stock all the different kinds of slide and they don't mind you having a go till you find the exact right one. Knowing my capacity for losing stuff and generally being an idiot, I would probably buy several - to make the trip to the outer hebrides, or wherever worthwhile

My recipe:

1. Invest in a diamond cutting wheel and a minicraft or dremel.
2. Buy bottles of red wine.
3. Drink wine
4. cut off neck of bottle.
5. Play slide guitar.

Safety: Wear safety glasses and smooth sharp edges with a sharpening stone. Don't cut off bottle neck immediately after drinking wine - it improves the music, but increases the danger factor.

Go to a plumbers merchant or similar, and you can buy off cuts of copper, brass and chromed tubing. you will save a bomb!

thanks for all these diy suggestions - unfortunately I am temperamentally unsuitable to be in the same room or perhaps I mean the same time continuum as sharp objects. I really don't want to make a bottleneck. Anything I make more complicated than a cup of instant coffee always ends up in tears.
thanks for the John Hornby Skewes suggestion. I will look into it

An old boyfriend used to swear by those aluminium cigar tubes, but he did have a very unique style.

Take cigar tube. Snip end off. Snip up the centre of tube, opening out slightly. Make sure tube (now curved sheet) fits over fingers. File down the edges with .22 grit glasspaper or sapphire steel nailfile.

I remember it gave a more mellow, less twangy sound but still sounds great.

I use a heavy brass tube that's tapered on the inside. It jams on my finger and doesnt move. Gives a very positive note and a mellow tone.

Now all I need is an ear for music.

I've tried all the common types and have just changed to using a

JetSlide

which, for me, is the best so far.

Peace
