18 Jun 04 - 08:17 PM (#1210197) Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Fri June 18th 2004 From: Rasener Many thanks for all the artists who performed tonight. Also many thanks for all those who came to listen. Numbers down a bit tonight, but still a very good musical night and I have to say that Mr and Mrs Sooz were excellent as the main guest spot with Mrs Sooz doing a great job as MC as well. All the support artists were very good as well - so I won't single anybody out as that would be unfair. Great job done. |
18 Jun 04 - 08:38 PM (#1210202) Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Fri June 18th 2004 From: Sttaw Legend Hand-Pulled-Boy I think we will have to give Market Rasen a visit some time |

19 Jun 04 - 04:56 AM (#1210304) Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Fri June 18th 2004 From: Strollin' Johnny Wasn't young David good! Andy Cutting should be looking over his shoulder, the Young Pretender's there! And Steve the bluesman was great too! J :0) |
19 Jun 04 - 04:58 AM (#1210305) Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Fri June 18th 2004 From: Strollin' Johnny And of course Mike and Jackie were their usual excellent selves. Which only leaves my regular partners-in-crime, Stitherum, and I don't want to be accused of favouritism! :0) J |
19 Jun 04 - 05:22 AM (#1210314) Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Fri June 18th 2004 From: Travelling Audience Thoroughly enjoyed last night. Variety of Folk and Blues night AND all Local! DO hope the Blues man comes back and maybe visits Gainsborough FC. in the near future. |
19 Jun 04 - 05:34 AM (#1210317) Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Fri June 18th 2004 From: Rasener Yes it was very nice to have young David along. He was very good. Steve Newton will be appearing in forthcoming dates, so thats good. Another very good artist on the scene. Glad you all enjoyed him. He is a very nice bloke. We must not forget the Travelling Yellow Bellies who were new to the club as well. Although you GFC members know them very well. Pity Bob wasn't able to make the trio up. They did very well. Stitherum, John Blanks and Mike and Jackie. We all know what they are capable of, and they didn't let us down - as usual. Got a new artist appearing on July 16th called Jake Reed - watch this space. |
19 Jun 04 - 05:35 AM (#1210318) Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Fri June 18th 2004 From: Georgiansilver Don't forget to mention yourself John....All the performances were excellent last night....I just don't understand why more people don't come for an inexpensive evening out. John..."Lay down your weary tune" should always feature in your performance. Thanks for adding it. Be Blessed, Mike. |
19 Jun 04 - 07:43 AM (#1210349) Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Fri June 18th 2004 From: Rasener John is always a very good act and a joy to listen to. |
19 Jun 04 - 08:34 AM (#1210367) Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Fri June 18th 2004 From: Georgiansilver Sorry John, that was not meant to sound like an instruction...more a suggestion...Sorry! |
20 Jun 04 - 04:46 AM (#1210772) Subject: RE: Market Rasen Folk Club Fri June 18th 2004 From: Strollin' Johnny No problem GS. It's a great song, even though I've always sworn I would never ever sing a Dylan song - I've realised 'never' is a very long time!! :0) The problem with always including it in a set (especially the short floor-spots we get to play in the clubs) is that of becoming known as a 'one-song' performer - I went through that years ago with Stan Rogers' "Lies", it's a wonderful song and guaranteed to go down very well, but I use it quite sparingly nowadays. Thanks for the compliment anyhoo - I'll drop it in frequently when you're around! J :0) |
