BS: John Howard, Aussie PM, War Criminal

Howard 'should be tried for war crimes'

Former Liberal Party federal president John Valder says Prime Minister John Howard should be tried and punished for war crimes over Australia's involvement in the Iraq conflict. Mr Valder was speaking at a forum on the impact of the war in Iraq, held on Sunday at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Mr Valder says there is no justification for invading Iraq simply to get rid of its leader.

"By any standard that is a massive crime and the people who perpetrated it - being President [George W] Bush, Tony Blair and John Howard - as such are guilty of extreme crime and they should be dealt with," he said. Mr Valder admits he is not sure how it should be dealt with and is doubtful it will ever happen, but he says he has no doubt that their actions were criminal.

"It has certainly divided me far away from John Howard's policy of taking Australia into a war that was an act of absolute aggression," he said. "There's no getting away from it, that's what it was.
"If people do that sort of thing on a grand international scale, they've got to expect to be punished."

Heck, GUEST, Bobert says the same thing about George Bush. Several Brits here on the forum seem to favor the same thing for Tony Blair. Seems to me you Aussies are pretty lucky to have a guy like Howard as your PM.

I think the unusual nature of this accusation is, Doug, that it is coming from a former President of John Howard''s own party.

Howard is war criminal, says former colleague; July 19, 2004;http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/07/18/1090089035899.html

A former federal Liberal Party president says the Prime Minister, John Howard, should be tried and punished for war crimes. John Valder told a Sydney peace forum yesterday the invasion of Iraq was one of the great military atrocities of our time.

"Bush, Blair, and Howard, as leaders of the three members of the coalition of the willing, inflicted enormous suffering on the people of Iraq. And, as such, they are criminals. I believe the only deterrent to a repetition of the Iraq situation is punishment in some form as war criminals."

Lucky, Doug?

We're lucky that we have a country that is still the best place in the world to live, even with the unspeakable Howard for PM. He's doing his best to change it, though.

Doug is correct in stating that several UK Mudcatters, and several million UK citizens feel that Bliar should face criminal proceedings.

Bliar and his gang have at last been forced to admit removing the caveats from the Sept dossier.
This equates to "sexing up" the dossier for public and Parliamentary consumption.
Without this "sexing up" it is very doubtfull if the House of Commons would have given authority for military action.
Also, if Bliar had told the truth to the Hutton inquiry, the BBC bosses would still have their jobs.

It appears that our rulers now think they can do whatever they please, with no fear of any action against them.
The latest atrocity is the appointment of the disgraced Peter Mandleson as Commissioner to EU,as a "thank you" for taking the blame for New Labour passport crimes involving members of Bliars cabinet and perhaps even Bliar himself.
Obviously, any pretence of "democratic government" ,or accountability, have been jettisoned in favour of self interest.

I would urge any other UK Mudcatters who feel disgusted by these criminals to join the Anti Globalisation protest at the G8 Summit at Gleneagles hotel 2005.
Im afraid that like America, the ballot box in the UK, is no longer effective....Ake

It is interesting to me, as it was absolutely predictable, that the parrallell inquiries going on in Australia, the US and Britain, cleared their leaders of malicious intent, while passing the blame onto the intelligence services. remembering the language of absolute certainty and precipitous aggression used by all three of our national warmongers, they were certainly not questioning the validity of the intelligence at that time.

This is where the International court, ratified by ALL nations, would have been appropriate. This is clearly why the US did not ratify it-along with our own little weed in Aus- since Bush knew that criminal acts were intended which would make him liable to such prosecution.

Whatever else he was, Saddam Hussein was leader of a sovreign state and as such rightly deserved the same protections our three thugs would expect for themselves. Bush,Blair and Howard are knowing war-criminals and some form of prosecution must surely be merited.

Yes along with Blair, Bush and all the others that sent troops into Iraq and other countries. I am here on holiday and I wouldn't say that Australia is a great country, especially when you still treat some people black or white as slaves, by giving them low wages and treating them like shit. and also they way that some Australian treat the Abrorignies as shit as well.
A great country isn't it. The only reason I come here is to visit my famliy, and nothing else.
but after all that it's your country and you can do whatever you like it.

Of course that sort of thing never happens in the USA... or Britian...

Of course Howard's a war criminal, as well as being a homophobe, racist and fascist. Personally I think we should lock him up with Saddam and throw away the key, he's no good for Australia or for anyone else in the world.

And as for Australia being a great country, puh-lease. This country sucks ! It's an uncultured backwater, the armpit of the world. Is it any wonder the Australian Government puts more funds into the AIS (Australian Institue of Sport) than into cancer research each year? Sure, it looks great to be high up on the Olympic medal tally, but not if half the athletes are gonna be dead in 10 years 'cos of Australia's shithouse health system

Aw, Guest. Come on, John Howard is as likely to be convicted as a war criminal as George W. Bush or Tony Blair is. The world is fortunate to have three such leaders and they deserve our support. Just because you disagree with their POV is no reason to believe they will be charged as WC!

Perhaps if you had qualified your statement with ...In my opinion ...

I find myself in agreement with Doug r.'s First posted sentence.[Wonder of wonders!] They have their justice departments all nicely wrapped up, and show utter contempt for any move toward justice by the U.N., or others in their own administrations. The rest [in my opinion] is incredible stuff..

Im just suprised bush and howard are still voted in.
it depresses me that if i were to ever blow up it would be because of an american and australian idiot. such logic has come from these "weapons of mass destruction" or more or less bush has his oil.
if anything they should be shot.
