Sally (and Schantieman)

The Wareham Wail is from 4-6 September this year, and I'm definitely expecting to be there.

If you send an e-mail to the address above, Alan White can now e-mail you a booking form in Acrobat pdf format.....

Hope to see you there!

Kitty

No, sorry, it's from 3-5 September, I was thinking that Bank Holiday Monday was 31 August, but it's the 30th.....

The banquet will be between 4 and 5 September. I hope I can still get into my medieval costume, otherwise I might need to go to a costume-making workshop....

Though icy cold, they gather here, young and old to sing their merry tune and light the night with melody. A wondrous sound to fill the air, a joyous racket, a medieval mash to chase away despair, and bright creation wonders at the song, and holds it breath lost in the sound, bows down to join this comely round.

and I enjoyed it too :-)

It's not icy cold if you stand near the spit....

And for the last 4 years, it's been the only festival I've actually camped at - I nearly typed "under canvas" but I think it's under nylon, or polyurethane or similar.

No Guests at the Wail as far as I recall & places are limited. It's more an event for Unaccompanied Singers & Interested Parties to rejoice together in a weekend of song & merriment. I'll be there, got my confirmation too!!

Depending on if we have moved or not, either Jon and Kathy will both be there or just Jon as Kathy will have to look after Isolde and Bathsheba (the Cats)in their new home. After all, someone has to bring the clotted cream up from Cornwall for the Cream Tea Workshop!!! ( the good news is the farm we get it from is now only 2 minutes down the road...yippee!!!!

There are guests inasmuch as Alan issues invitations to singers whom he likes to hear, and whom he thinks others will like to hear, but there are no paid artistes or big concerts. A new innovation over the last couple of years has been the folk club at which some of the invited guests do spots of 20 minutes or so, but it's all very laid back and great fun. Tremendous singing...

Wuzzle! So good to hear from you, see you there, and don't forget your brilliant voice! But Viking Warrior impressions may be few this year!

One of the weekend bashes I keep away from (aren't you glad) as I prefer bashes witha little more Instrumental input . AND I have my own
Medieval Outfit !! I think Alan White is happy just to see me occasionally in the Middle Bar !!

Hi Everyone
I've sent off my cheque and I'm looking forward to a great weekend

However I've just checked train travel from Manchester, and discovered that journey time(s) and ticket cost is a bit OTT.

Is there anyone travelling from a shorter distance, who could offer me a lift from a convenient railway station on or near their route?

If there is, I would be really grateful and obviously pay my way.

Kathy, why not do it the easy way and bring the cats with you? I'm sure there would be lots of aunties and uncles willing to cat sit!

Theresa

Glad you're coming.

I'll be driving from Harrow - although Harrow & Wealdstone is on the West Coast main line, I don't think trains from Manchester stop there, but you could change at Watford Junction onto a Silverlink train, if that's any help (or the Bakerloo line, but that's slower!)

See you in the Endeavour in about a week's time?

Theresa, Ysually if you buy your ticket in advance(one or two weeks) you can save rather a lot on the standard price, probably about 30%, just a thought.

Thanks Phot, my ticket came today and as it seems possible to stay over on Sunday night the return journey wouldn't be as fraught so I'll re investigate train details

Don't know what Thread is but I've turned up this site looking for info on the Wareham Wail which I think is this weekend coming. Some guy in the Anchor at Sidmouth suggested I come down and he might fit me in a spot somewhere. (It's a long way down there from Darlington)

He promised to send me details but I guess has thought better of it!

If anyone can tell me more urgently by post or by phone ther's still a chance I might make it.
