I bought my first Chet Atkins record in 1952 and have been a fan ever since

His Gallopin Guitar album has a tune called "Lover Come Back to Me".
It is a beautiful song and I would like to have the major chords. NO I won't play it like he did, but I might be able to play it the way I can.

Hmmm. I didn't realize that song was so old - published in 1928, with music by Sigmund Riomberg and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. The Great Song Thesaurus says that "the release of this song is based on Tchaikovsky's ""June Bacarolle." I'm not quite sure what that wording means.
Rabid Squirrel's Jazz Archive has the lyrics:

Joe, this is super. I had no idea the song had lyrics. As I said,I have loved this tune since the early '50's. I had everything that Chet Atkins had recorded and kept it updated until around 1960 on a trip to California, all my records were ruined. Someone had stored them on the shelf behind the back seat(The Hog Trough). The Mojave sun cooked them into useless plastic.
