BS: Wish me luck

I'm performing in public tonight - I've got this in the BS section on account of I'm just as likely to make a mess in my pants as make music...

Last public performance, 1983 or thereabouts.

I'm just doing one short set, three songs in two open tunings, only have to retune one string between second and third songs, friend in the audience who will tell me I was fabulous even if I well and truly screw up, I'm all prepared, except I haven't a thing to wear...

Wish me luck.

Good Luck!

And wearing nothing would be good preparation for messing up... No one would notice.

If you're inclined, a wee nip a bit before you go on can calm nerves in some. Or you could have some alcohol as well.

Sometimes being ready with a quip in case something goes wrong gets the auduence on your side, as they can laugh during that "awkward silence."

Best of luck!

Don't forget to acknowledge the applause! You'll have earned it!

"Luck will very often save a man, if his courage holds."
-Vladimir Kulich as "Buliwyf", in The 13th Warrior-

So rather than wishing you luck, I'll bid you, "May your courage hold!"

Well, at the last minute my cheering section bailed out, and I wasn't so sure I was gonna go, but then I read what Clinton said about luck and courage (thanks, Clinton) and I went.

And it was actually kinda funny. Not nearly as large an audience as I expected. My hands didn't shake too bad, my throat didn't close up, I sang pretty well, and I played all right too. A few bobbles, but nothing awful. Almost anti-climactic - it was like if you stood in line all day working up your courage to get on the RollerCoasterOfDeath and when you finally got on the ride it turned out to be the TeaCups...

And I want to do it again!

Thanks all of you for your encouraging words. I knew I could count on you, and you didn't let me down. You're all worth your weight in gold - Suzanne ( I Dared to Suck! )

You have my highest respect.

I'm still on the sidelines waiting to see if I'll ever open my mouth to sing in public again.

This thread gives me courage...at least to think about it!

Now.....Go do it again!!!

Congratulations Suzanne, you have started on a wonderful journey of joy and excitement (periodically punctuated with extreme frustration). May you continue to perform for many years to come. I salute your courage.

As Rick would say, "Another life ruined. She has chosen to be a folksinger." Congrats, my dear. Look forward to performing with you sometime.

All the best,

Mick
