On way t' work this morning I was listening t' Terry Wogan show and he played a C&W song. there were a pearler of a line in it. It went something the lines of,

'Pour me another drink make it a hurricane, it's only 12.30 but it's 5 o'clock somewhere.

Anyone know of any other daft lines like that.

The hit C/W song ' This Kiss ' had a line, ' It's centrifugal motion ' pronounced, sen triff a gal, to fit in with the rhyme.
Like most C/W songs pure unadulterated crap.

muppett - I've often reflected on how dumb that line is myself! :)

While driving to a folk club Wed night I was listening to the Country show just minutes before Mike Harding's folk prog was due to start.
The hookline for the last song played went...(summat like)...

'It's hard to kiss the the lips at night
That chew your ass all day'

Hmmmm - now I remember why I shouldn't switch on till bang on eight o'clock.

Don't knock it just cos it ain't to your taste.
There's a lot of wit and yes, irony, in country music.

By eck Splot man get in the spirit that my comment was meant,I'm not picking on country music, It just raised a smile on a morning when I was getting pissed wet through whilst walking to work and thought there must other examples, so please don't take offence.

keep smiling.

I'd much rather have them sensible traditional folk lyrics like "They took my Willy from me" or "Your pretty little hands couldn't handle our tackle" or even "Whack fol a didle di a turum di..."

Cheers

(Favourite country line? "It's been lonesome in the saddle since my horse dropped dead)

Sorry Muppett, it came over a bit strong.

I like "... take your tongue outta my mouth while I'm kissing you goodbye..."

On the folk side there's "...if it weren't for the alligators, I'd sleep out in the woods..."

Most of the lines quoted here are parodies of CW, not genuine stuff.

Perhaps not the worst of the genuine, but one that's memorable was

All my arms keep reaching for you [how many has he got?]
my eyes keep searching for you
My lips keep calling for you
and my shoes keep walking back to you.

Every time I heard it, I pictured empty wingtips trudging clumsily down a sidewalk.

My favourite is still
"How can I miss you when you won't go away!"
Quack!

"Whiskey for my Men; Beer for my Horses"

A good title, wasted on a dumb-ass song.
